A River Returns to its People

Following Enbridge's 2010 Marshall, Michigan spill, the U.S. EPA and Michigan Department of Environmental Quality closed sections of the Kalamazoo River. On June 21, 2012, the river was returned to its people.

River Reopening Update
April 18, 2012
The first section opened today from the access site near Perrin Dam (Marshall Public Works building) to Saylor’s Landing. Saylor’s Landing is one of five new public river access sites that Enbridge has built for the community. It is located at 15 Mile Road and the Kalamazoo River, just west of Marshall.

Progress Update
April 17, 2012
During the winter and early spring, Enbridge completed the remediation of a number of smaller Kalamazoo River overbank sites as well as the affected areas along Talmadge Creek. A spring reassessment of the river overbanks, under the direction of the U.S. EPA, is nearly complete.
